Your Steam trade URL is the link that lets other people, and CS2 skin sites, send you trade offers without being on your friends list. You’ll need it to withdraw skins from almost any marketplace, case opening or trading site. Here’s how to find it, how to fix it when it doesn’t work, and how to share it safely.

What is a Steam trade URL?

A trade URL is a personal link that looks like this:

https://steamcommunity.com/tradeoffer/new/?partner=123456789&token=AbCdEfGh

The partner number identifies your account, and the token is a secret key that allows offers to be sent to you. Anyone with your trade URL can send you an offer, but they can’t take anything without you accepting it.

How to find your Steam trade URL on desktop

  1. Open the Steam client and go to your Inventory (hover over your username, then click Inventory).
  2. Click Trade Offers at the top right.
  3. In the right-hand menu, click Who can send me Trade Offers?
  4. Scroll to the Third-Party Sites section and copy your trade URL.

Shortcut: while you’re logged in to Steam in a browser, go straight to steamcommunity.com/my/tradeoffers/privacy and your trade URL will be at the bottom of the page.

How to find your trade URL in the Steam mobile app

  1. Open the Steam app and tap your profile picture.
  2. Go to Inventory, then open the menu and select Trade Offers.
  3. Tap Who can send me Trade Offers?
  4. Copy the link under Third-Party Sites.

The menu layout changes now and then between app versions. If you can’t find it, open the shortcut link above in your phone’s browser instead.

Trade URL not working? Fix it

If a site says your trade link is invalid or offers aren’t arriving, check these in order:

  • Inventory privacy: your inventory must be set to Public. Go to Profile → Edit Profile → Privacy Settings and set “Inventory” to Public.
  • Old link: if you’ve reset your trade URL, any site still holding the old link can’t reach you. Paste in the new one.
  • Trade restrictions: new accounts, recent password resets, a missing Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator or a recent trade reversal can all stop your account from trading for a while.
  • Trade protection: CS2 items you’ve received in a trade are protected for 7 days and can’t be traded on during that time.
  • Steam being down: during Steam’s weekly maintenance (usually Tuesdays, US time) trade offers can fail or arrive late.

How to reset (change) your trade URL

On the same “Who can send me Trade Offers?” page, click Create new URL. Your old link stops working straight away. Do this if you’ve posted your link publicly, think it’s been abused, or just want to cut off a site you no longer use. Remember to update your new link on any site you still trade with.

How to stay safe when sharing your trade URL

Sharing your trade URL is normal and on its own it isn’t dangerous, because nothing leaves your account unless you accept an offer. Scammers rely on tricking you into accepting the wrong one, so:

  • Check every offer carefully in the Steam client or app before confirming. Make sure the items and the other account are exactly what you expect.
  • Be wary of “bots” contacting you about a pending trade. Impersonators copy the name and avatar of real site bots, so compare the account’s level and profile age.
  • Never log in through a link someone sends you. Fake Steam login pages are the most common way skins get stolen.
  • Never share your API key, and revoke any you don’t recognise at steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey. A stolen API key lets scammers intercept and swap your trade offers.
  • Keep Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator on. It protects your account and avoids long trade holds.

Where you’ll use your trade URL

Almost every skin service asks for your trade URL in its account settings so it can send withdrawals. This includes the sites in our CS2 trading sites guide, case opening sites and the CS2 gambling sites we review. Once you’ve added it, check the value of what you hold with our guide to checking your CS2 inventory value.

FAQs

Is it safe to give out my Steam trade URL?

Generally yes. A trade URL only lets someone send you an offer. Nothing leaves your account unless you accept it. Just check every offer carefully and reset the link if you think it’s being abused.

Can I see someone’s inventory with their trade URL?

Only if their inventory is public. The trade URL itself doesn’t reveal anything private.

Does my trade URL ever change?

Only when you click “Create new URL”. The partner number stays the same, but the token changes, and the old link stops working.

Why do I need a public inventory?

Sites need to see your items to send you offers or value your skins. With a private inventory, trade offers through your link won’t work.
